Correct Plumbing for Your Home

The best way to prevent costly and time-consuming problems with your plumbing is to take preventative measures.

Here we have some tips to prevent some common plumbing issues:

  • Blocked toilets – If you want to prevent the toilet from becoming blocked, make sure that toys, paper towels, birth control products and feminine hygiene products are disposed of in the rubbish bin and not flushed down the toilet.
  • Chemical drain cleaners may work on dislodging build-up in your drains, but they are also corroding the pipes as they corrode the clog. Use home-made drain cleaners or a plunger to remove blockages in future.
  • If the water pressure in your shower is getting weaker, check that the showerhead hasn’t become clogged before you call a plumber. To do this, tie a plastic bag full of vinegar over the showerhead and leave it there overnight. In the morning, use an old toothbrush to scrub away any remaining mineral deposits. If the water pressure still hasn’t improved, then it’s time to call a plumber.
